Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC)
DIC is a monthly tax-free amount paid to a surviving spouse, child, or parent. If the Veteran was appealing a VA decision before their death, a survivor can continue pursuing the claim and even appeal again if the decision isn't favorable.
